IV Infusion Therapy
By David M. Odom, MD
Here are some of the better known IV therapies:
Myer’s Cocktail is a blend of vitamins and minerals and antioxidants containing Magnesium Chloride, Calcium Gluconate, Hydroxycobalamin (B12), Pyridoxine (B6), Dexpanthenol (B5), B Complex, Vitamin C as Ascorbic Acid, Zinc, Selenium, and other minerals all given in 500 to 1000 ml of Normal Saline. The powerful antioxidant, Glutathione can be administered by “IV push” at the very end of the infusion. Various recipes may be designated as beneficial for increasing immune function.
NAD+ is a basic part of intermediary metabolism that decreases in production with age. The work of NAD+ occurs in the mitochondria, little organelles within the cell that produce the basic molecule of energy in the body, Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP). As your production of ATP declines, so does your energy and rate of metabolism. One group of people who notice immediate benefit from an infusion of NAD+ are those who habitually use recreational drugs and alcohol.
